The natural boundaries of the Town of include the Brunswick River to the east and Sturgeon Creek to the south, siting it just five minutes west of Wilmington. It is both well established and, as one of the fastest growing communities in Brunswick County, is the centerpiece of northern Brunswick County’s continuing economic expansion. In late 2004 the town doubled its geographic size by completing the voluntary annexation of a 4,900-acre tract commonly known as Brunswick Forest. Leland is poised for even greater growth in the years to come. is the largest city in Brunswick County and its location only five minutes across the bridge over the Cape Fear River from Wilmington offers easy accessibility to the attractions, restaurants, nightlife, educational and cultural opportunities available in Wilmington. Its strategic location also offers convenient access to Myrtle Beach, the coastal town of Southport, and the New Hanover and Brunswick County beaches. However, Leland is building an allure all its own. As more people move into the area, sees more and more new neighborhood developments, golf courses and recreational activities, shopping and dining opportunities, festivals, services and businesses. Along with that growth, real estate in the form of new homes, apartments and long term rentals has been increasing exponentially. The city is the hub of activity and commerce for the rapidly growing northern portion of Brunswick County, which also includes the towns of Bolivia, NC, Navassa, NC, Bellville, NC, Winnabow, NC and Supply, NC. These neighboring small towns are all rural towns with natural beauty. Bolivia is home to Brunswick Community College and the Odell Williamson Auditorium . Established in 1981, this nonprofit volunteer organization is Brunswick County’s primary arts information and funding source. Nonprofit arts funding is channeled to this group from the North Carolina Arts Council. With money received each year, the Brunswick Arts Council provides financial assistance to local nonprofit arts groups through Grassroots Arts Program grants; sponsors community events such as Concert by the Sea; and sponsors the Brunswick County Arts Council Art Show. At present you will find galleries and dance schools in and theater arts, music, museums and other arts venues in the surrounding communities. The Brunswick Community College Odell Williamson Auditorium is a 1,500-seat state-of-the-art facility on the campus of Brunswick Community College. It offers entertainment such as the North Carolina Symphony, the U.S. Marine Band, the Kingston Trio, Jerry Reed, the All American Boys Chorus, the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, The Lettermen, Lee Greenwood, Ronnie Milsap, Pebo Bryson, Willie Nelson, a presentation of The Odd Couple starring Jamie Farr and William Christopher (Klinger and Father Mulcahey from the TV show M*A*S*H), Kathy Matea, John Berry, Roy Clark, North Carolina Dance Theatre American Masterpieces and various national touring companies performing such classics as Death of a Salesman and Steel Magnolias. The recreation department of the Town of hosts a yearly Youth Art Day, a day of fun and learning about the different aspects of art. Youth Art Day has hands-on art stations where you can create pottery, crafts, wood turning and more as well as participate in African drumming. Activities at this free event are geared to children ages 8 and older but all children are welcome to attend. The food at the restaurants in the area runs the gamut from hamburgers and pizza to haute cuisine. There are great restaurants here.
